This is a case about a woman killed inside the place where she should have been safest, a family fractured by loss and suspicion, and what happens when an answer feels clear to the people who loved her, but the verdict says something else.

In July 1982, the body of 18-year-old Pamela Brown In July 1982, the body of 18-year-old Pamela Brown was discovered at the bottom of a wooded hill behind St. Monica's School in Barre, Vermont. For decades, her case remained unsolved.

Then, in 2007, investigators received a hit in the Vermont DNA database that matched DNA found on Pam's body to Theodore Caron Jr., a suspect who had been ruled out in the past. To confirm the lead, investigators collected a discarded coffee cup he left outside a state office building. The DNA on the cup confirmed the match and moved the case forward.
