In July 1982, the body of 18-year-old Pamela Brown In July 1982, the body of 18-year-old Pamela Brown was discovered at the bottom of a wooded hill behind St. Monica's School in Barre, Vermont. For decades, her case remained unsolved.

Then, in 2007, investigators received a hit in the Vermont DNA database that matched DNA found on Pam's body to Theodore Caron Jr., a suspect who had been ruled out in the past. To confirm the lead, investigators collected a discarded coffee cup he left outside a state office building. The DNA on the cup confirmed the match and moved the case forward.

In April 2026, nearly 40 years after the murder of In April 2026, nearly 40 years after the murder of Kathleen Flynn, it looked like her family might finally see her case reach a verdict.

But just days into the trial, the judge declared a mistrial after newly disclosed information raised questions about whether Kathy’s body may have been placed in a used body bag — a potential contamination issue in a case centered on DNA evidence.

This case is delayed again, but it is not over. Now, her family is waiting once again to see what happens next.
